Happy New Year, y'all! It's here, it's gonna be good, it's gonna be fun.

So much for my New Year's resolution ("Be more optimistic!"). Meanwhile ... yes, time has indeed plodded on, and that's good news for a change. Because these past months have seen frantic activity in the Blue Flux camp. The new album is now a big throbbing splodge on a previously barren horizon. It cannot be ignored, reasoned with, swept aside or told to take a nap. It now has a highly demanding life of its own. And it even has a name: The Agenda.
The last song is being recorded as I type. Mastering will follow shortly after, expected to take about 4 weeks. And then it's over to you. Best educated guess is for a March 08 release.

Good news also for those who can't bear to wait that long: one of our new songs, Rockdad, has been added to the all new, high definition Blue Flux Radio. Are you listening yet?

Been running a few other housekeeping jobs on the site, too, as well as uploading a new free mp3 file.

Have a good one, everyone. And stay tuned round about March time for the new album launch.

Whoooa, and again I'm 6 months older. Just popped in quickly to upload a new free mp3 song, "Cool Jerusalem", from our 1999 album The Beach. Find it here.
As for my predictions re. new album completion below - over-optimistic, I'm afraid. Although two-thirds of the songs are in the can, the summer break and a likely lengthy mastering session at the end points firmly at late 07/early 08. You can't rush quality, as they say in Vorsprung-durch-Technik-land.

Enjoy summer (mmh, not much sign of it at recent Glasto festival, though). Catch you soon.

Ahoy there time travellers,

first of all apologies for the extended radio silence. Justifying this with 'busy working on new album' excuses would only be telling half the truth. So let me tell you about my recent sex change... No, just kidding. The year simply flew by and there's nothing I can do about it.
But I have been slogging away at writing and recording new songs. It must be said, much as I expected our upgrade to SONAR (ie. computer-based recording, see previous entry) to speed up the recording cycle, it actually turns out that the average completion time for a song has risen from 4 to 6 weeks. However - and it's a big however - the complexity and (hopefully) quality of each song has risen noticably. That's simply because our new setup allows it. There's a lot more fine-tuning and tweaking, especially towards the finishing stages of a song. Has it been worth it? Well, you can catch a sneak preview of one of our new songs, 'Rock Dad', at our MySpace page, and judge for yourself.
At the rate things are progressing I expect the new album to be completed round about June time. Sorry about the wait, but strap yourselves in 'cause it'll be a cracker!

Here's wishing you all a happy and peaceful 2007! Thanks for listening, and I'll see you on the flip side.

Welcome back!

Quite a decent bunch of news since my last entry. First of all, there's been a major studio upgrade - Groundhog Studio has gone computer-based at last. Where once the stand-alone hard disc recorder took pole position Sonar now rules supreme, ably assisted by an EMU 1616 recording interface. Find out more here. As you may have spotted already, the whole website has had a bit of a makeover as well. Hopefully this makes it a little more streamline and easier to navigate. Due to Sonar's arrival, some previous features (hard disc recording and sequencing, mainly) had to be retired, though the seemingly very popular page 'Changing the Hard Drive on the Fostex DMT8' remains and can be found here.
Finally, I'm pleased to report that work has begun on a new Blue Flux album. I expect the new 'toys' will provide many a new direction for our music, but where they lie I cannot yet say.

Let's hope 2006 will be a year to remember!

Hiya,

time for a quick update. First of all, I've finally fixed the Guestpage problem. The new page is up and running, with a new and hopefully more reliable host. They also look very empty right now, so hop on over there and do something about that.
Secondly, we've ditched CD Street as one of our retail outlets. After being taken over I've had various comments regarding their reliability (or lack of), so we've pulled the plug. We intend to sell more of our albums through CD Baby, and hope to set this up soon. In the meantime, it's worth pointing out that all tracks from our album 'Just Dreams' are also available from numerous download providers online (click here for a bit more info on that). Should anyone who downloaded the full album require the cover artwork, please let me know. I'm prepared to make this available via our pages should there be demand for it.

See y'all soon, enjoy the music!

Hi,

summer is upon us with all its seasonal seductions, and still I've managed to squeak in a quick site update. There's a brand new full mp3 ready for free download: 'Immunity', the single from our new album 'Just Dreams'. This is not available elsewhere (unless you buy the album, of course), so snap it up quick.
Also, I've added new sections to the ever-expanding Uru pages, buffed up the studio pages, and sprinkled some fairy dust all over the place. I've had reports that our Guest Book page is sporadically unavailable. I'm making enquiries with our provider on that one, so in the meantime, apologies should you have problems accessing it.
Have a great summer!

Hello there!

First things first - apologies for the long hiatus in communications. But, I've a pretty good excuse this time: been busy completing the new album. And complete it is. As of one week ago, the lengthy mastering process is over, covers are printed, and 'Just Dreams' is going out to the world. Almost a year and a half in the making, 'Just Dreams' is the first album produced at our new(ish) Groundhog Studio, with all the bells and whistles this facility has to offer. Gill and I are exceedingly happy with the final result, and naturally hope that our listeners will feel the same way. I've uploaded three streamed clips from the album, as well as an mp3 clip. But, between you and me, there's one full mp3 song from the album available for download here. Oh, and Blue Flux Radio (see button above) also plays one complete song from the album.
As you'll notice, the whole website had a once-over as well. We have a new additional distributer, CD Baby in the US, who have started selling 'Just Dreams' online. In time, other albums may follow, too. Also, we have streamlined the ordering process from Blue Flux Direct, for all European customers. The interface is a lot easier to use, no more downloading of order forms etc. And there are new features on the studio pages, on our plug-in round-up, on the Uru page ... Only the Enthalpy Records page is still under construction, but I hope to get round to revising it shortly.
We've had plenty mail from both listeners and fellow studio owners. Thanks ever so much for your communication, and please - keep it up, we're interested to hear from you!

Hiya!

Had a quick whisk through the site to update a few links, and to upload a new full mp3 file, 'Stay Frosty'. Enjoy! Hope y'all have a Merry Christmas, see you on the flipside.

Hi there!

Autumn leaves are already swirling on the lawn, and the central heating has just made itself heard for the first time. Time flies - it's been a while since I've found time to update this site.
You'll find the ever popular studio pages now carry a few new sections, including one on monitors, and an updated plug-ins round-up
Work on the new Blue Flux album is well under way. Groundhog Studio seems to be operating faultlessly, and has already seen many a new song recorded in the past nine months. Listening back to some of our completed new tracks, I was pleased to detect a definitively new slant to our music, probably engendered by the inspirational Korg Triton, and of course the new recording environment itself. We're aiming for an early Spring release. I intend to upload one or two new tracks to this site shortly in mp3 format, so watch this space.
I'm also pleased that direct CD orders through our Blue Flux Direct facility have grown in popularity, especially from listeners in Europe. Perhaps the dreaded Euro has helped to pave the way for a level playing field after all.

Thanks again to all visitors and customers - your support plays a major part in keeping Blue Flux going.

Have a peaceful Autumn and a troublefree run-up to the Festive Season.

17.12.02

It is done! Our new recording facility, Groundhog Studio, is finally up and running. Two months work have paid off, and we're very pleased with the result. See for yourself - visit the brandnew Groundhog Studio pages.
Now that the studio is complete, I've found time to update the Blue Flux pages in general. The Studio Pages have been updated considerably, and there is now a new page dedicated to plug-ins. Plus I have posted a new DMT8 page with instructions how to change the hard drive on the Fostex DMT8 recorder.

The Links page has had a haircut, and most other pages have also been spruced up a bit.
I've uploaded a new full length Blue Flux mp3 song (sorry for having to wait for it for 6 months). And you can now listen to various Blue Flux songs while you surf these pages. Look out for the "Listen while you surf" buttons.

Enjoy ...

02.06.02

Just managed to find time for a quick update to a few pages on this site, namely the Blue Flux main page and the Studio page. We're in the process of moving again, hence the rush, but you can find out all about it on the brand new Groundhog Studio page.

More news to follow soon. Have a great summer,

11.12.01

Greetings! With Christmas just around the corner, it isn't just Santa who's got good news for you. First of all, the new Blue Flux album Sugarbeat is finished, released, and out there waiting for you. Get more details about it here, and click here to listen to some clips. You can get hold of Sugarbeat from various sources, click here for info. You'll see that we've now hooked up with a second on-line retailer, CD Street, where most recent Blue Flux CDs can be ordered. We've also started our own distribution, Blue Flux Direct, for customers in Europe.

I've made use of the post-album spare time to overhaul our website. You'll find new audio clips and full Blue Flux mp3 file, new fun stuff, an updated Links page, and some revised sections. The Studio pages still need some updating, I'll get round to that shortly (I hope).

With all the hard work done, I hope I can start winding down a bit for the Festive Season. Finishing off the new album was hard work, but worth it. I hope you'll like it as much as I do.

Have a great Christmas, and a successful New Year.
