Notes:
Welcome to the steely feel! This album was recorded at Blue Flux's
interim Piglet Studio
in
Cologne. Not quite an 'unplugged' album on account of a few electric
pickups alongside the microphones, it nonetheless only features
guitars, bass, and the odd percussive
instrument.
But Sugarbeat is far from being a solo instrument effort. Most
compositions are multi-layered, with a truly organic guitar
feel, subtle ambiences,
foot-stomping
drive and plenty of grit. All songs are originals with the
exception
of Valley of the Bells, Blue Flux's guitar arrangement of
Maurice Ravel's masterpiece, and the traditional Scarborough Fair,
which
brings
the
album
to a gentle close.
